neighbouring teeth for support and are so natural looking; you may forget you ever lost a tooth! By preventing the bone resorption that would normally occur when all of the teeth are missing, the lower one-third of the face collapses if implants are not placed to preserve the bone.
One or more implants can support a bridge, provide support for a denture and replace one or more missing teeth. An implant will feel like your tooth again and the same care you give to your other teeth will apply to the implant. You dentist will check your gums and implant abutment at your 6-month hygiene check-up.
Dental implants are screw shaped and are made of titanium. They are implanted into the jawbone and help to recreate aesthetic form, function, chewing and speech, and are now used routinely in selected circumstances. A periodontist dental surgeon will design and place the dental implant allowing adequate time for healing. One of our excellent general dentists will place the newly formed tooth onto the implant.
The process takes about 4 to 6 months until completion and is considered to be one of the most successful forms of treatment we have in dentistry to date.
A full and thorough assessment including radiographs (X-Rays, OPG, Cone Beam Imaging) has to be completed to assess if you are suitable for implant treatment.
